The answer to the question “how expensive can a mac get?”

With 8 processors, 32 GB of RAM, a RAID card (whatever that is,) 4 15K RPM hard drives totalling 1.2 terabytes, what is likely NVIDIA’s best graphic card, two (2) 30-inch displays, dual disc burners, and every option box checked, a Mac Pro that starts at $2,700 can balloon to the price of a well-equipped car. Unfortunately, there was no choice of color. Honestly, I had no idea a factory-built Mac could cost so much. Oh well, you learn something new every day.

Okay, I hate to be one of “those” people. The RAID card combines the hard drives into one giant disk and provides redundancy: if one of the drives fails, swap it with another and all of your data is still intact. However, RAID needs one drive for parity, so instead of having 1.2TB, you would end up with 900GB. Nevertheless, that is one sweet system, and if I ever becoming stinkin’ rich, I think I’ll get one. Until then, I’ll be happy with my MacBook.
