Drilling it into our heads won’t work…or will it?
The more Bush repeats it, the dumber he sounds, and that’s saying something. Drilling for oil will NOT lower gas prices. It isn’t a we-won’t-know-for-sure-until-we-try situation, folks.
Even if we began setting up for offshore drilling today (and that’s not going to happen), it wouldn’t affect gas prices for years, more likely a decade. In a decade, who knows where gas prices will be, and where Saudis and Iraqis are with their oil production.
Mind you, I’m not even categorically against offshore drilling per se, but I realize that the results won’t be instant, and they may not even be positive. So why suggest this as a solution to high gas prices when it isn’t and possibly never will be?
Like I said…Bush thinks we’re dumb; and that if he drills it into the public’s head enough (pun intended), they’ll start to believe that starting new drilling operations will immediately make it cheaper to fill up their crossovers. Well, they’re free to believe that, but that won’t make it so…
